Known for his aggressive pressing style, ability to work within a budget, and talent for nurturing young players, Slot aligns well with Liverpool's criteria. Although there hasn't been any formal contact between Liverpool and Feyenoord, it is expected that Feyenoord would demand a significant compensation fee if Slot were to leave.

Slot's successful tenure at Feyenoord, which began when he replaced Dick Advocaat in 2020, has seen him lead the team to the UEFA Europa Conference League final and secure a third-place finish in the Eredivisie during his first season.
